The Great Sphinx has inaugurated a new space at its feet that will allow for the first time tourists to observe closely the guardian of the plateau with the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh. The fact of being face to face with this colossal figure of 20 meters high, 57 meters long and nothing more and nothing less than 5 meters head, forced tourists to pay more for their entry.
The pyramid of Pharaoh Menkaure, the smallest of the trio that inhabits the plateau of Giza, meanwhile, has included some improvements. The rehabilitation to which it has been subjected has provided it with a new lighting network and a modern ventilation system in corridors and chambers. Also, the internal walls of the pyramid have received a treatment to reduce its salinity and the road that connects the site with the rest of the monumental complex has been paved.
After the convulsions to which the country has been subjected, the Egyptian regime tries to revive the tourism on which its economy depends and which is in intimate relation with the protection of the heritage of the place, which has suffered several episodes of pillage since 2011 the null police action. Even the state proposes the protection and care of the plateau for tourists to comfortably visit the monuments, although it seems that it is being difficult to carry out.
What do you think about the rehabilitations and improvements carried out? Do you think they could trace their income like this?
