Well, in Rootear we like to have alternatives for all tastes and that is what we are going to see today, a solution that offers functionality similar to the software presented yesterday, but with some very interesting and visual differences that change quite a bit. the concept.
And this software is WinDirStat, a free application, valid for the latest versions of Windows and with which we will achieve a kind of occupation map of our hard drive, a system that can help us to know what our capacity is doing. disco at a Vista.
As we can see in the image, just as it happened yesterday, this application will give us the exact size of each directory and file, and it will also offer us the percentage it represents, but unlike yesterday's application, with WinDirStat we will see a kind of occupation map in its lower part.
This map is the most characteristic of this tool, since at first glance we will be able to know the different content that there is and the occupation of it, for example, in the screenshot that we have left you, the blue color represents .dll files, the red files .sys, green .dat, light blue .exe, etc.
In this way and using colors, we can know how many files of a certain type we find in each directory and depending on the size of the box, we can know how much they are occupying in our disk, that is, we can get a very real image of what is on our disc just by looking at sizes of pictures and colors.
As you see, there are different solutions for this problem, some will like more and others less, but in these two days we have seen two good solutions to analyze the occupation of our hard drive.
