The Polestar division of Volvo believes that its future passes through the hypervitamined electric

Polestar, the Swedish line of Volvo, has been working for a few months with greater autonomy in order to perfect its work with more sporty models coming from Sweden. It is true that his role in the company, except for the competition, is testimonial but even so, that characteristic blue is able to turn collars in its path.

Now, for a lover of the company that is more committed to safety, having a vehicle capable of combining the most innovative in the field with the possibility of stepping on the accelerator and getting off the ground is something that a group of followers has always wanted. Why not continue offering it? However, it will not be as you might expect.

The company and the division must follow a common strategy and what they most believe is in the future of autonomous driving and electricity. Both hypotheses are on the table with regard to projects for the next few years so we should not be surprised if we see a future electric Polestar without driver at the wheel.

Why Geely believes in a future for Polestar based on this strategy

Apparently, the Chinese group Geely, who prevented the historic Swedish bankruptcy, believes that staying at the level of the VAG group is a key to remain a leader in the sector. Based on the prestige that Polestar generates to the Volvo parent company, they would use sports variants to grow in relation to electrical technology and autonomous driving.

At present, although Volvo does not offer a purely electric model, it does have several hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions with a good sales pace. It still occupies a small margin of the whole business but every month they are getting to improve some figures that still do not have the expected growth at a general level.

Volvo could, in this way, enlist in a new range of electric motors reserved for the most outstanding models of the firm, those signed by Polestar. Obviously, it would occupy a ridiculous space but the truth is that the future veered towards electrical conduction a few years ago.

Companies like Tesla ended up being forced almost to a growth overflowed by not having enough supply to cover the market demands. Does this mean that you will lose the essence that has always characterized Polestar? It could be said that, at least, it will suffer a reconversion to try to stay true to what its small target audience asks for.
